
Community Climate Action Trust
Essay Competition for Young Zimbabweans.
One thousand Rands award to be made in December 2020 to the top-ranked essay based on the Topic, “How Climate Change & COVID-19 has affected me.” Top five essays will be published on CCAT’s News Site. Write an essay of between 1000 and 2500 words describing how climate change impacts & the COVID-19 pandemic has affected you and the community you live in. The Short Essay contest is open to young Zimbabweans under the age of 17 and seeks to amplify voices of young people in addressing the Climate Change & COVID19 crises & their combined impacts which have arguably hit Zimbabwe harder than most countries in the world.

Eligibility
1. Be a young Zimbabwean Citizen aged less than 17 years old.
2. Be enrolled in any Primary, Secondary, or High School or institution in Zimbabwe. (If not, indicate why?)
3. Be currently residing in Zimbabwe
NB: Please note that entry to this contest is free. Those residing in disadvantaged Rural Communities are encouraged to participate.

Terms and Conditions
i). The Essay must preferably be written in English Language. Where it is written in a local language, translation must be made available, and the name of the translator mentioned.
ii). A participant may submit only one essay.
iii). Essays will be judged based on relevance to the given topic, clarity of message, and creativity, amongst other things. (Hint: Essays which bring a balanced view that both Climate Change & COVID19 are crises needing equally urgent attention stand a chance).
iv). By participating in the Contest, you are agreeing to Community Climate Action Trust using your submitted material in its platforms, including websites.
v). Works should be done by participants under the age of 17 and should not be done by older individuals on behalf of eligible participants.
vi). Participants with winning essays will be required to submit a copy of their Birth Certificate or ID document, and contacts of any of their current school representative.
vii). All submissions must be in electronic formats (doc, docx, PDF, epub…). Submissions through WhatsApp text will only be accepted from disadvantaged participants from deeply rural setups. No handwritten submissions will be accepted.
viii). CCAT reserves the right to forfeit any entry where it perceives breach of the above Ts & Cs.
