TROPICAL CYCLONE ELOISE

Cyclone Idai, and Cyclone Chalane still reverberate in people’s memories as if they just happened twenty-four hours ago. Their impacts are still very much alive on communities which they pelted. Now that a new potential Tropical Cyclone Eloise is predicted, it is not hard to imagine what rural communities might face once again. According to online weather forecasting sources, a potential Tropical Cyclone Eloise is forming over the Indian Ocean and landfalls are anticipated in Madagascar, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe as soon as this coming week.

The Meteorological Services Department in Zimbabwe has advised of continuous rains from 14 to 20 January throughout the nation, which may result in flash flooding, and flooding of rivers. Hailstorms can also be expected.

Notice: Marginalised Rural communities in the pathways of these continuous rains will likely be highly affected by this. Damages and destruction to community infrastructure, houses, and roads should be expected. Destruction and damage to property should also be expected in affected towns.
