Iran Airport Reaches Dangerous Heat Index of 66°C

Iran’s Persian Gulf International Airport has recorded a dangerous heat Index level of 66°C. This comes amidst increasing concerns of heatwaves experienced across the globe in the face of climate crisis. The heat index, is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature. This has implications on the human body’s health and comfort.

In recent days, a number of countries across Europe, Middle East, the Americas, and Asia have been experiencing extreme temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius. In Mainland China, record temperatures above 52°C have been experienced.

The Heat Index is calculated based on Relative Humidity percentage and the air temperature. Based on the table above Heat indexes above 125°F fall in the category of extreme danger. The heat Index recorded in Iran’s Persian Gulf International Airport is way above that at more than 152°F.
